Local Teacher Transforms Abandoned Lot into Community Garden, Feeding 50 Families

What started as a weekend project has blossomed into a neighborhood movement. Maria Santos, a 30-year elementary school teacher, has turned a forgotten corner of Riverside Heights into a thriving garden that provides fresh produce to dozens of local families.

"I wanted to show my students that they could make a real difference in their community," Santos explains. "Now, over 50 families receive fresh vegetables weekly, and we've created a space where neighbors actually talk to each other."
