DMCA Policy

The Local Journal respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. It is our policy to respond to alleged copyright infringement notices that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 ("DMCA").

1. Filing a Copyright Infringement Notice

  • A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf

3. Counter-Notification Procedures

If you believe that your content that was removed (or to which access was disabled) is not infringing, or that you have the authorization from the copyright owner, the copyright owner's agent, or pursuant to the law, to post and use the material in your content, you may send a counter-notice containing the following information:

  • Your physical or electronic signature
  • A description of the content that has been removed and the location where it appeared before it was removed
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification
  • Your name, address, telephone number, and email address
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court located within your jurisdiction, or if outside the United States, that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts located in the United States

4. Repeat Infringers

It is our policy to terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the intellectual property rights of others. We will investigate notices of copyright infringement and take appropriate actions under the DMCA.

5. User-Generated Content

Users are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights to any content they submit, post, or share on The Local Journal. By submitting content, users grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and distribute such content in connection with our services.

We reserve the right to modify this DMCA Policy at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
