Tyler Reynolds, a 22-year-old from our community, has signed his first professional baseball contract with the Coastal Harbor Mariners after an impressive showcase event.

The local left-hander caught the attention of major league scouts with his electrifying fastball, consistently hitting 95 mph during the Coastal League showcase in October. His performance earned him a spot in the developmental league's All-Star game, where he struck out 8 batters in 5 innings.

From Backyard to the Big Leagues

Reynolds grew up playing catch in his backyard with his father, Greg, who still works as a mechanic at the local shop. He attended Riverside High School before playing two seasons at the community college.

"I've been dreaming about this since I was five years old," Tyler said at a press conference held at the community center. "To all the kids out there who are working hard on their game—this is proof that if you put in the work, good things can happen."

"Tyler has the stuff that teams dream about. His fastball has real movement, and his competitive nature will serve him well at the next level." — Scout Mark Patterson

What's Next

Tyler will report to the Mariners' spring training facility in February. He'll begin the season with their minor league affiliate in the Pacific Coast League, with the goal of reaching the majors within two to three years.

A celebration rally is being planned for later this month at the Riverside Community Center, where fans can meet Tyler and get autographs. Date and time will be announced soon.
